For those of you that still haven’t made the transition to a full Mac OS experience (including the hardware), you should:
Give it a try!
If you’re really an adventurous spirit, go and try to install it on your pc. For having done it several times, this is by far the most complete guide to what’s called Hackintosh Vista dual boot on your Windows machine.
And here’s a small video demonstrating how it works after installation
And when I’m saying free, I mean DRM free. In fact, it’s even more expensive to buy free music than to buy DRM protected one
The reason for this aberration is that it’s high quality (256kbs) encoding, so you get either semi good DRM protected for a lower price or high quality for a higher price. However, this doesn’t apply to full album sales.
Overall, this is a good news for many users that were pissed of by Apple’s proprietary DRM technology that only works on iPods (ok I have a video iPod so…). This is also good news since it’s a mini earthquake that will force the whole industry to move in this direction sooner or later, let’s see how the Microsoft camp reacts now…
In this excellent article, Mac OS X Browsers Benchmarked, Omniweb clearly appears as the speed race winner. It is to some extent the last of its kind, a really excellent browser for which you have to pay. However, my personal choice always goes to Firefox or soon Flock because of their customizability and available tools ranging from blogging to development.
I think it will remain this way for a while until a contender comes with this kind of extensivity.
That is the question I’m currently asking myself. In the beginning, I was really excited (keynote craze time), then bored by the limitations (no divx playback (I’m not ashamed to tell I WANT it), no recording, ridiculously small hard drive…), then there is this new phase I’m in: Wow, you can hack it, so there’s hope!
I guess many of the tecchie apple fans (that I am) are experiencing the same hesitations. So come on Apple, you can do better. Here are the specs of the AppleTV I’d like to buy:
TNT decoder integrated
TV recording capabilities
Any audio and video (read DIVX & XVID) playback capability
